2005 American historical drama directed by Bennett Miller, adapted from Gerald Clarke’s book and Dan Futterman’s screenplay, starring in this clip Philip Seymour Hoffman, Catherine Keener, Amy Ryan and Chris Cooper. Beginning in the winter of 1959, Hoffman plays famed writer and character Truman Capote who has travelled from New York City to rural Kansas to interview people for a book (In Cold Blood) he is considering writing about the murder of a farmer and his family and the on-going investigation. Keener is his friend and assistant, writer Nelle Harper Lee (To Kill A Mockingbird), Cooper is the local detective leading the investigation and Ryan his wife. A true tour de force for Hoffman has he brings back to life the unique character of Capote and his attempts to humanize the killer and his eventually attachment to one of them. Terrifically made film by director Miller, subtle, never overdone. A top-notch cast. Every part is played to perfection. Highly recommended. Hoffman won an Academy award.
