i don’t know the name of the time traveling romance book?

there’s a time traveling romance about a modern day business woman who got stuck back in time (may be around Regency England), i think the cover is kinda dark-ish and i saw it around March, 2008 but m not so sure. got any idea what it is????

any suggestions for a poem about unrequited love-preferably from female perspective?

A good poem, preferably not short and from a woman’s perspective. And a modern or contemporary one would be great but old school is cool too as long as the language isnt too dificult. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE HELP!

Why does personal experience pass for scientific truth in modern feminism?

Based on her own personal experiences, Betty Friedan wrote a book about how unhappy and miserable housewives were. However, she did not take any polls or provide any evidence for this. Certainly, some housewives were unhappy, but how many?

When Mary Jo Bane wrote “Here to Stay”, a book applauding the new dual-income couples of modern times, she also insists that being a housewife is a “wretched job” that leads to unhappiness. However, she does include some stats about married couples:

of women working fulltime, 41.5% were “very happy”
of women working parttime, 42.7% were “very happy”
of women not working, 46.4% were “very happy”

of men whose wives work fulltime, 38.6% were “very happy”
of men whose wives work parttime, 44% were “very happy”
of men whose wives were not working, 50% were “very happy”

So the only stats she can come up with to support her theory of rampant unhappiness in housewives indicates the opposite.
So, why does personal experience pass for scientific reality in women’s studies? Why are “truths” such as the unhappy housewife allowed to persist without any rigorous testing of the theory?
EDIT: I think it’s great that both of these authors are sharing their opinions and ideas. I’m just beginning to wonder why no one challenges the “gospel truth” of feminism – that housewives are unfullfilled, and that marriage is inherently oppressive and leads to unhappiness. I’m sure it’s true for some women, but there doesn’t seem to be any actual science behind it, it’s just a matter of faith. Shouldn’t these ideas be challenged as much as “woman can’t do math” or other ideas?

Anyone else feel this way about marriage in modern society ????

You’re expected to spend thousands, endure stress, send out invitations to people you’ll only see once a year ( like that uncle who is a complete douchebag)

Then after the long elaborate wedding day, which is supposed to be the HIGH POINT of your marriage, things go downhill from there.

You **accidentally** have sex with another woman, and the wife is unforgiving and merciless, and threatens to tear you a new asshole with a divorce

And if she wins, she will further spit in your newly torn asshole by winning the kids and keeping them away from you.

I think the concept of marriage is no longer applicable in the modern, Western consumer-driven society with women who don’t forgive infidelity and care about $$$$ money from the divorce.
It was accidental, because I did NOT plan on it. So technically, I’m not a cheater.

I am trying to find the title of a creature feature movie from the 1970′s?

The movie was about a guy who was beheaded in the middle ages and his head and body were buried separately. Fast forward to modern times and a woman finds the head and the head moves its mouth to put the woman into a hypnotic state to find the body. That is the basic story line, I only saw it once as a kid. I thought it was from a creature feature episode but I might be mistaken. Any help would be great as to the title/year etc.

Where does the modern need come from to dehumanize the Virgin Mary?

For 1900 years Christians of all types spoke of her with respect. The way women were thought of was raised in the minds of Chrisendom by association with her. Men looked up to her (a woman!) as the greatest of Christians to ever live!

But now, in our modern “enlightened” era where women have gained (for the most part) equality with men, Mary is being dehumanized in the minds and words of many Christians.

No longer is she respected and looked up to by them… now she is considered to be no more than an object. “Just a womb.” “Just an incubator.” “Just something God used to get Jesus a human form.”

Where once she was respected as a champion of femininity, now she has become less than human in the minds of many. I find this trend desturbing, and not just because of the disrespect shown Mary. What does it say about our generation that we are so quick to denegrate her?

Please share your thoughts on this matter… What do you think?
